Marriage

If you intend to be married in New York State, you must apply for a marriage license. Both parties must be present when applying. A marriage license can be purchased from any Town or City Clerk's Office.

  • Fee: $40.00 (includes your marriage certificate) We accept cash, checks, or credit cards (service fee applies with credit card payments).
  • Waiting Period: 24 hours from the time the license is issued.
  • Expires: 60 days, beginning the day after license is issued.
  • Required Documentation: Birth Certificate; picture identification; copies of ALL divorce decrees, or death certificate if marriage ended by death.

Below you will find a Marriage License form you can print ahead of time, prepare, and bring with you to our office. Please allow 30 minutes for processing time.

After the officiant performs the marriage and the license is returned to our office, you will receive one copy of the Marriage Certificate via mail. If the Marriage Certificate is lost or you need an extra copy, you may purchase an official Marriage Transcript.

Marriage Transcript

The cost of a certified marriage transcript is $10. You must obtain a transcript where you purchased your marriage license, not necessarily the town or city you were married in.
